- The Best Things to do in Wellington
What to do on your visit to Wellington, the cultural capital of New Zealand.
Visit Cuba St- the cultural centre of Wellington

The most well known street in Wellington (and possibly New Zealand!) is home to excellent cafes and restaurants, boutique fashion stores, vintage clothing shops, buskers and usually something unexpected and eye catching!
Wellington Chocolate Factory- the best chocolate in New Zealand?

Hidden away in the lanes, but worth the effort to find is the Wellington Chocolate Factory on 5 Eva Street. Enjoy a luxurious hot chocolate and pick up some uniquely Wellington gifts to give to those at home. Hear the origin story of how some of the best chocolate in the country is made from the bean to the bar.
Catch a ride with the East by West Ferry and explore a little
Pop down to the Queens Wharf on the Wellington Waterfront and catch the East by West ferry. Take the 30 minute scenic crossing to Days Bay and enjoy a coffee or lunch or get off on Matiu Somes Island to explore the walking tracks a little. It’s a unique view of Wellington City on the cruise back in. You can even take a bike on ferry, if you like!
Grab an Electric Bike from us at Switched On and ride to a delicious meal at La Boca Loca
The best of all activities (yes, we may be a little biased here) has to be hiring an awesome modern electric bike from us at Switched Onand exploring the beautiful bays around Wellington. One of our favorite rides is from our shop (Shed One, Queens Wharf) out to La Boca Loca, Miramar for delicious mexican fare! Once you have had a chance to relax, why not cycle out and explore the beach at Lyall bay before pedalling with ease back into the city.
And finally, make sure you’ve got tickets to the show! WOW is New Zealand’s single largest theatrical production and the 2017 show features designers from over 13 countries. We hope you make the most of these best things to do in Wellington and we look forward to the 2018 World of Wearable Arts event.
