Switched on Bikes, with support from Wellington City Council, bring Wellingtonians this new service providing free bikes for kids and families to borrow as they grow.
The Kids Bike Library is a completely free service open to any family, within the Wellington City Council area, for children aged from 2 to about 13 years old. We think cycling is the best way to get around our city and it brings all the benefits that only bikes can; keeping active, travelling green, reducing traffic and most importantly, having fun! We’re happy to help kids and families enjoy these benefits of riding bikes in an accessible and affordable way, without having to worry about your child outgrowing a bike they’ve only had for a few years. Once your child has outgrown a bike, you can bring it back and ride away on a bigger one! Subject to availability. When picking up a bike, please make sure you bring a debit or credit card which we’ll take details from to store in our system for security purposes. Please bring your child along to make sure we can get sizing perfect!
