Switched On Bikes offers an exciting and unique outdoor activity for your end of year Christmas event- Explore Wellington by Electric Bike!

Bring your team down to our central location at Shed One, Queens Wharf right on the Wellington Waterfront and from there set out on an awesome eBike adventure in any direction you choose!

Wellington Waterfront to Lyall Bay (most popular)

A great option is to jump on the eBikes with your team and enjoy a beautiful ride around Oriental Parade venturing out to Lyall Bay.  The electric bikes make this a breeze, easily handling any head winds along the way!  Along the way,  you can stop at Cog Park (Greta Pt. / Evans Bay) which has a large green space for any team building games might choose to play.  From there, you can ride the cycle lanes through to Lyall Bay.  If you’re going to include food as part of your event, you can choose from The Botanist, Spruce Goose or Maranui Cafe. To ride back, you can choose to follow the cycle lanes back around the bays or take the more adventurous route up to the top of Mt Victoria!  If you’re planning settling in and having a few drinks at Lyall Bay, we can arrange transport of the bikes back from there.

One Way- allow 1.5 hours, including set up and riding time

Two Way- allow 3-4 hours, including set up, riding time and a cafe stop

Wellington Waterfront to Miramar

Another great option is to follow the cycle lanes around the beautiful Oriental Parade and enjoy a ride with the team out to Miramar.  Weta Studios offer a great tour, Coco at the Roxy is a great place for lunch and La Boca Loca is there for fun mexican fare!  Before or after you can choose to ride up to the Maupuia Lookout for a unique view of Wellington Harbour…(many Wellingtonians haven’t been to this spot!)  Then you can cruise back around the bays to the Wellington Waterfront and pop up to Mt Victoria if you like.  Again, if you’d like to settle in to one of the restaurant & bars for the afternoon then we can organise transport of the bikes back to our store.

One Way- allow 1.5 hours, including set up and riding time

Two Way- allow 3-4 hours, including set up, riding time and a cafe stop

Wellington Waterfront to Shelly Bay

A classic bike ride in Wellington is to ride from our store to Shelly Bay.  There are cycle lanes right up until Shelly Bay road (and if you’re riding during the week this road is pretty quiet).  It’s a gorgeous route with good stopping points along the way.  The Chocolate Fish Cafe is a perfect break / stopping point with an ‘out of the way’ feeling so the team can relax they’ve got full meals, burgers and craft beer available.  The Chocolate Fish has loads of space and you can choose between outdoor / indoor and courtyard seating.  On the ride back, choose to head up to Maupuia lookout or Mt Victoria.  Or just take it easy and let us pick up the bikes from the Cafe.

One Way- allow 1.5 hours, including set up and riding time

Two Way- allow 3-4 hours, including set up, riding time and a cafe stop

Other Options- contact us to discuss

Pencarrow Lighthouse– we can arrange delivery of bikes and transport out to the start of the ride or just jump on the East by West Ferry (very close our store) and you can electric bike to Pencarrow Lighthouse.

Hutt River Trail- we can arrange transport of bikes and people to Petone and pick up from your destination on the trail.  Perhaps stop at The Dowse for lunch.  Using an electric bike on the Hutt River Trail is easy and away from any roads.
